What is News?

News

News is a way of keeping people updated about what is happening around them, both locally and internationally. It can also serve as a platform for education and to help people understand complex issues. In addition, it can be used to inform and influence opinions about various topics such as politics, science, culture and economics.

News can be found in many forms such as newspaper articles, TV programs, radio shows and the Internet. It is usually written to appeal to a certain demographic and is meant to capture the interest of those reading or watching it. This is done by ensuring that the story answers the “5 W’s” (who, what, when, where and why) as well as providing a little drama or intrigue.

Unlike a biography, news is typically about events that have a significant impact on a large number of people. For example, missing the bus on your way to school and walking all the way would not make news unless something unusual happened, like finding a litter of abandoned baby tigers in the middle of the road.

People also like to read or watch news about celebrities and the lifestyles they lead. This can be especially interesting if it leads to controversy, conflict or charges and counter-charges. Other things that often make news are sex, death and disease. They are important to our everyday lives but not always easily understood or discussed. Lastly, timeliness is a key aspect of news as it makes it relevant to the current day and age.
