Relationships

A relationship is an association between two or more individuals. The association may be one of mutual respect or friendship, love and commitment, or a mix of different types. The term may also be used to refer to social relations between groups of people, such as a family relationship or a business partnership.

Healthy relationships help us deal with stress and make sense of the world around us. They can also improve our ability to communicate, understand and empathise with others. They can also teach us more about ourselves by showing us how to be a good friend, partner and parent. They can even add years to our lives as they give us support and encourage us to live a full, meaningful life.

Friendship-based relationships (dyads) are common in society, where most people have one or more close friends. There are other types of relationships, such as those based on romantic attraction, solidarity, or regular business interactions. Some of these types of relationships can be formal, such as a marriage or civil union. Others can be informal, such as a summer fling.

A romantic relationship is a type of relationship that involves sexual attraction and emotional intimacy. It can be monogamous or polyamorous, and it may include sex, affection, or financial dependence. Affection is what separates a romantic relationship from a friendship. A partner should make you feel loved and cared about, and they should be able to ignite a spark inside of you.
