MY PERSONAL JOURNEY

The Financial Services Industry

Financial services

Financial services are a broad sector that touches everyone in big and small ways. It consists of everything from Wall Street to insurance companies.

Banking, asset management, insurance, venture capital and private equity are each sub-industries within the financial services industry. These five sectors fuel both U.S. and global economic growth and employ over six million people across the country.

The five areas are not all similar, however. Each area offers unique employment opportunities.

Banks, brokers, mortgage lenders and other finance providers are all part of the financial services industry. They provide various kinds of financial products to consumers such as checking and savings accounts, loans and credit cards.

Securities traders, investors and financial advisors are all also in this sector. They help individuals and companies manage their money and ensure that they are paying proper taxes.

Investment services are a financial service that focuses on hedge funds, mutual funds and other types of investments. This sector is also the place where insurance assets, pensions and other financial products are handled.

This section of the financial services industry also includes accounting and insurance professionals. These professionals help keep your personal finances in order, while also ensuring that you are paying accurate taxes and ensuring that your assets are protected from death, injury or other mishaps.
