Business services are activities that benefit companies without delivering physical products. They provide expertise, convenience and luxury, helping companies to focus on strategic-based internal goals rather than everyday operations. They can help reduce costs by allowing companies to outsource work that doesn’t fit in their core competences, and they often allow businesses to increase productivity, safety and efficiency.
The professional and business services supersector is one of the largest service sectors in Europe, making up 11% of GDP. It contributes to innovation and growth by providing the necessary infrastructure for other sectors, such as manufacturing and consumer services. It also supports the ‘serviceitisation’ of the economy by creating new combinations of goods and services.
