MY PERSONAL JOURNEY

A Career in Business Services

A career in Business services offers a variety of opportunities to work with different industries and clients. It can also provide an opportunity to make a difference in businesses and organizations, however it is important to do your research to ensure that this is the right path for you.

Business services are intangible and do not result in the output of a physical product. This includes everything from the services provided by banks and insurance companies to software, training, event planning, marketing, communication, and more.

These activities can be done in-house or outsourced. Outsourcing allows companies to focus on core business activities and eliminates the need for capital investment. It is also cost-effective and flexible. It can also give access to specialized expertise not available in-house.

In the case of New York State, the Business Service Center (BSC) provides central processing for transactional Human Resources and Finance services that are common across agencies. The BSC also provides support to agencies so that they can focus on their core mission activities.
